Pre-travel workshops are designed to support your photographic interests, align the groups language and skillset to maximise your on location experiences, and to ensure you are able to capture the kinds of images you seek. Pre-departure workshop topics include;
Workflow and image management.
Camera craft and advancing exposure.
Editorial systems.
Workshops are delivered concurrently at our Melbourne studio or online.
June 24, 2023 - Berlin, Germany
We commence our tour in Berlin, staying in the iconic (AREA), with easy access to local sites, cafes and restaurants. Our focus in Berlin is contemporary creative practices and photography, in particular the many galleries and studios to visit. Photography workshops include street photography, surveillance (& sousveillance), as well as ways to visually explore a city in transition. The East and the West may be merged, but the remants of the cold war remain.
June 28, 2023 - Paris, France
We travel by air from Berlin to Paris, arriving in the evening and greeted by the photogenic European light. Our focus in Paris is history, romance and fashion. Historical sites (complemented by contemporary exhibitions and galleries) provide a backdrop to meander through Parisian streets capturing the history and life of one of Europe’s most famous cities. Activities include shooting a live fashion editorial scene, gallery tours and presentations by artists and curators, and an evening of French photographic & cultural theory (expertly paired with French wine).
Arles, Southern France
Our final location is the southern French city of Arles, and the 2023 Recontres le’Arles (Festival of Photography). City walking tours, bull fighting (bravery through ‘tagging’ the bull, not killing it), exhibitions, photobook events, speakers, workshops, portfolio reviews, cafes and more.
Our 5 Pillars of Practice
Our cultural tours are more than travel. Centering around creative histories, practices and photography, we provide indepth workshops and educational opportunities, combined with one one one advice and hands-on sessions to improve your photography and creativity. Participants are encouraged (required!) to produce work during the tour, and folio reviews and critique sessions are a core activity. We connect with local artists, photographers, art directors, curators and more, to ensure your engagement with culture is the focus of our tours.

Upon returning from the tour we run a workshop on selecting and editing your folio for exhibition at a local Melbourne Gallery and online through our Culture Focus website and social media accounts.
Travel Partners
Our tours include all flights, transport, accomodation (with breakfast), entry fees to galleries, museums and festivals and key meals where we come together for information evenings, lectures, tutorials and social events. A full breakdown and calendar of travel is available on request.
